Hey there, Hon! It’s coming to the end of January, and— it's Human Trafficking Awareness Month, a serious issue that needs all the spotlight it can get. So, grab a cup of coffee (preferably from Hon’s Honey Marketplace), get comfy, and let's unpack the nitty-gritty of human trafficking.
Here at The Well, we are located in one of the most rural areas of Baltimore City— Curtis Bay. Curtis Bay grapples with the challenges of human trafficking, drug abuse, poverty, and other unfortunate circumstances.
Human trafficking isn't some far-off problem. It's a sad, global mess that millions of lives are suffering from every day, even now. We're talking forced labor and sexual exploitation— not just women, but men too. Who gets hit the hardest? Women, kids, migrants— the vulnerable ones.
Some ways you can help:
Know the Signs: Being in the know is crucial; awareness is our superpower! This month is your chance to educate yourself and others on the signs of human trafficking. Break the myths, get the facts, and be the superhero who can spot red flags. Read more here.
Spread the Word: Use your platforms to share info, survivor stories, and resources about human trafficking. Start the conversation at work or in your friend group. Knowledge is contagious. Read more here.
Back the Heroes: Like The Well, organizations are fighting this battle every day. Whether you donate, volunteer, or spread the word, YOU are the start of a huge impact. Your small act could be a game-changer in the fight against trafficking.
The Well offers a Life Development Program covering various life-related topics. Our holistic program offers things such as workshops, group classes, mentorship, counseling, casework, team building, and financial coaching. Additionally, we provide two housing units for women in our program, currently housing two women and a child. Be a part of her story and donate here.
Prevention in the long run: Support programs like The Well, which educate people (especially women and youth) about prevention– tackling the root causes, like poverty and inequality. Let’s spread awareness this month and be intentional with our conversations. Your time, donations, gifts, and Hon’s Honey purchases support the day-to-day programs offered at The Well.
Your support impacts our community and the lives of women survivors, and we cannot do this without you. And for that, we forever thank you.
Human Trafficking Awareness Month is OUR call to action. Let's aim for a world where everyone lives free and proud. Break those chains, my friend. Let’s make this world a place where justice and compassion rule. WE can do this! 🌍✊💙
